survived one week

Now that I have a pause in my day with Caleb at school and Lilly doodling on the iPad, I'll update this little blog about our week one without TJ at home (PLUS it's raining, heyyo).

I took this photo as I was driving away from LAX at 4:30am.  The only upside was no traffic.

At around 11:30 that morning he had flowers delivered.

After Caleb's nap, I caught him reading his prayer book aloud in his room.
"Dear Father, hear and bless Thy beasts and singing birds, and guard with tenderness small things that have no words.  Amen."

My darling girl and I came down with a twenty-four hour bug.  It was pretty gross, but she handled it like a champ.  I was completely knocked out, and of course it was on the first day that Tj had left!

Let me tell you a little something about my dad + kids + water.  It's a magical combination.  Be it water at the beach, in the pool, with the hose, in the sink, in the tub...it just works.  Always.  This day it was 90 degrees!  Help me, I'm not ready for summer.  It's a good thing we have two hoses, they played and played.
"Look!  Merida!" she says as she tries to drink from the waterfall, just like Merida in Brave.

And I SWEAR she was loving this...she's squinting because it was so bright, and her mouth is open because she was trying to DRINK the water raining down on her.  I can't help but imagine that there's a dinosaur chasing her, and that's why it LOOKS like she's screaming.  But she couldn't stop trying to drink it, and she had us in stitches of laughter.
Of course Caleb is always up for a challenge...jumping over it?  No prob.  Crawling under it?  Please.

On Friday he came home with a "Q is for QUACK" hat that he made at school.  He was pretty proud of it.

Once again, it was insanely hot...and I discovered that Lilly happens to LOVE water.  GO LC!

I can hardly explain my excitement for the discription of this one.  While waiting in the drive thru at In N Out and listening to the radio (we're old school), a song came on...and when Caleb wants to hear a song he says "wanna listen to this one?!" so you'd better not switch stations.  His favorites are normally anything from Mumford and Sons, Of Monsters and Men, Muse, and M83, unless we have a CD in...then it's K-Ci & JoJo all the way.  Well I kid you not, JUMPIN by Destiny's Child came on and he wanted to listen to it.  I was dancing in my seat and flashing back to my FUHS days.

Farmer Gresch came by and planted all sorts of treats *veggies* on our side yard...which are now flooded from this random downpour (but I think the tomatoes are okay, Dad).

Lilly had no trouble doing some planting herself.

And on Saturday we spent the evening at my parents'.  The kids walked around the community and had fun.

I mean, how does she look so big?

Tj's headed for some intense training, so we won't have many chances to FaceTime/talk (we've been spoiled this week!).  Please pray for his endurance and strength.  And please pray for peace here at home.  Love to you all.  I'm so encouraged by all of you through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.  Thank you and HUGS.
