First Grade, First Day, Caleb

I've had a smile on my face all morning.

This is our 4th first-day with Caleb and it has been the best, by far.

This summer was busy and crazy. And we've actually seen behaviors from our Bug that we haven't experienced. Could it have been from all the business? The change in schedule? The commotion of so much family and new faces in town? The heat? The few days where there was a lull in activities? These are things I think about. Constantly.

Whatever the reason, we have been so ready for school. Caleb knew the shirt he wanted to wear. He was okay when I reminded him that socks were a school rule. He was open to a change in what I pack him for luch. He even had something different for breakfast. And he didn't bat an eye when I told him that it was time to leave his precious blankie at home; that it doesn't need to come with us in the car all the time.

He was so thrilled to see his teacher and his little buddy from last year {hello...BFD here!}. He's in the same room he was in last year, but this time he's a big FIRST GRADER and he knows it.

I couldn't help but smile all the way there, taking photos, and all the way home. What a stark contrast to this post from last year {remember...? a certain someone was deployed??}. I'm so looking forward to fall, the holidays, our schedule, and most importantly having us all together for all of these things. I'm giving all of my anxieties about therapies, IEPs, behavior charts, and conferences over to The Lord and trusting Him with it all.

And now to spend some quality time with my Lilly Belle.
