Caleb the Great

So many of you are already aware that Caleb loves his Magnadoodle. It's so hard not to be aware since I text/FB/Instagram his drawings all the live-long-day. With this post I'd like to share with you the stories behind the doodles, some of which he has come up with on his own. All of these, I might add, he's done all alone, sitting in his room, not looking at anything but the Magnadoodle. Despite many challenges he faces concerning his development, he's still incredibly bright, and I think his writing is a small glimpse into his constantly moving brain.

A week ago we visited DTD with Grammy and Grandpa. Two days later, I look up from my cup of coffee and see CC with his Magnadoodle on the floor, and this is what he'd done! Now, it's clear that he's seen the word "Disney" printed before (hellooo Disney nut). But I've never printed the word downtown for him. And unless he somehow remembered seeing the word while we were there, I think he might be trying to spell. Eeek!

Betty is Tj's stepdad's stepmom...did you follow that?? She's basically CC's great-grandmother and he adores her. He get all squeeky and overwhelmed with excitement when he sees her, and he had just seen her on Easter Sunday...and the curly Y, an homage to her signature of course, she always sends him holiday cards in the mail, so he's quite familiar with her name.

This is NOT my handwriting, I swear...although it looks JUST like it. He obviously has a thing for copying.

A couple of minutes after we'd FaceTimed with my brother (Uncle Sean, in Houston), Caleb ran into the livingroom, SO proud that he'd attempted to spell out Uncle Sean. Not too shabby.

Be still, my heart ♥ !

Probably his favorite thing to write (and watch, lol).
Holla at LC in the background!

This was my first clue that he was starting to spell. One of his favorite shows is Yo Gabba Gabba, and a band called The Postmarks sings a song about balloons on one of the episodes (you can watch it HERE. Anyway, the name of the band is only spoken on the show, nowhere is it printed...this crazy kid tried to write it out.
